Riley Horse Camp Campground Description

Submitted by a Muddy Camper User:
There are around 20 campsites in this campground. About half of them have full horse corrals, while the others have hitches. They will allow groups without horses, but especially on holidays and weekends, horse campers get priority. Sites have fire pits and picnic tables. No cell service.

The Pros:
3+ trail heads with in a 5 min walk and a couple more within a 10 min drive. The nearby river helps drown out the sounds of other campers. Beautiful scenery and quiet paths to navigate through the forest. 15 mins from grocery and liquor store in Welches.

The Cons:
There’s not a ton of privacy between the sites. The “drinking” water is in my opinion undrinkably rusty. One bathroom is missing a door. There’s no camp host on site. Campsites don’t have much in the way of tent pads, so finding a place to set up that’s not lumpy or sloped is difficult.

Overall it’s a good place to go that’s not too far out of the city, but feels like it’s deep in the forest.
