Breitenbush Campground Description

Breitenbush Campground is a riverside camping experience located just 9 miles from the town of Detroit, Oregon. Set along the peaceful Breitenbush River, this campground offers a quiet atmosphere with the soothing sound of the river flowing through, making it a perfect escape for campers looking to relax by the water. Situated at an elevation of 2,100 feet, this Breitenbush campground provides the perfect getaway, especially compared to the busier lakeside campgrounds closer to Detroit Lake.

With 29 campsites, 23 of which are reservable, Breitenbush offers a range of options for both tents and smaller trailers up to 24 feet in length. Many campsites are riverfront, giving campers easy access to the water for swimming or fishing. The surrounding vegetation offers privacy between sites, and amenities include picnic tables, fire pits, four vaulted toilets, and drinking water. Campers can either pay using the Scan and Pay system or opt for traditional payment methods for first-come, first-served sites.

Fishing is a favorite pastime here, with rainbow trout being a common catch in the clear waters of the Breitenbush River.  The campground is also near the Breitenbush Hot Springs which offers a daytime retreat in a pay to use spa-like environment.  For those a little more adventurous you can also find free hot springs adjacent to the Breitenbush River slightly up stream from the campground at a site called “Lower Breitenbush Hot Springs“.  Whether you’re spending the day exploring the Willamette National Forest or relaxing by the river, Breitenbush Campground is an ideal spot for those looking to enjoy the natural beauty and peacefulness of the area.
