Barton Park Campground Description

Barton Park, situated between Estacada and Clackamas, is a popular park and campground operated by Clackamas County. Campers and water enthusiasts flock to this picturesque destination, which offers a range of recreational opportunities, including fishing, river floating and camping. Whether you’re looking for a serene getaway or an exciting adventure, Barton Park has something for everyone.

Campground Overview

With a total of 112 campsites, Barton Park’s campground provides a variety of options to suit different needs. Among these, 103 campsites are equipped with water and electrical hookups, ensuring a comfortable stay. The campground is divided into two distinct loops: the East Loop and the West Loop. Let’s explore these loops further to help you make an informed decision about your camping experience.

Barton West Loop

Located on the right-hand side after the dump station, the Barton West Loop is surrounded by trees, offering plenty of shade for campers. It’s important to note that many of the parking areas in this loop are not paved. Instead, campers drive into the grassy field to park. The first 30 sites in this loop provide a more open setting, akin to camping in a field. For those seeking a touch of tranquility, sites 31-36 are situated along a creek, providing an ideal environment for car camping. However, sites 38-55, located in spin-off loops, may not be suitable for larger vehicles or trailers due to hairpin turns and low-hanging branches. Amenities in this loop include a playground, horseshoes, volleyball, and convenient flushing toilets.

Barton East Loop

Found on the left side upon entering the campground, the Barton East Loop is the newer of the two loops. While it offers larger campsites with paved parking areas, shade is limited in this section, making it susceptible to heat during the summer months. Families will appreciate the presence of a playground and the availability of flushing toilets with showers. If privacy and shade are your priorities, campsites 60-69 in this loop are the recommended choice.

Please note that alcohol is prohibited in Barton Park, except within designated campsites paid for by registered campers. Furthermore, Barton Park serves as a popular destination on hot days, as it is frequently used as a put-in spot for those floating along the Clackamas River.

Barton Park, located in close proximity to the bustling Portland Metro area, offers a diverse range of campsites and recreational activities. While the quality of campsites may vary, you’re sure to find the perfect spot to embrace the beauty of nature. Plan your visit to Barton Park today and create unforgettable memories just outside the Portland Metro area.
