Allen Springs Campground Description

Allen Springs Campground is located on the Metolius River in the Deschutes national Forest near the small town of Camp Sherman, Oregon.  The campground sits adjacent to the beautiful Metolius River with many of the sites offering riverfront camping opportunities.

The campground is primarily in a loop format and has no potable water so be sure to pack in whatever you need or bring a purifier to pull water from the river.  There are vault toilets, picnic tables and fire rings.  Nearby amenities including fuel can be found in Camp Sherman.

When you walk into the campground there is a split in the road and a section veers off to the right where you can find campsites 1, 2 and 3.  If you are able to reserve all three of these sites they would make for a nice, private group camping area.  Note that if you have a RV or trailer you may have to back into this area from the turn off from the main campground.  Campsites 4, 5 and 6 are walk in sites with ample parking space and a nice setting adjacent to the river.

Overall, Allen Springs is a smaller campground suitable for primarily tent campers due to the small size of the parking spaces. The area offers a tranquil place to spend the night along the shores of the babbling Metolius River.
