Smiling River Campground - Metolius River, Central Oregon

Smiling River is one to the top campgrounds located on the Metolius River in the Deschutes National Forest near the small town of Camp Sherman.  The campground has fantastic access to the Metolius River from many of the sites and there is plenty of space between campers offering much privacy and seclusion.  The forest in this area is beautiful and the campground itself is well maintained and laid out thoughtfully for both tent campers and RVers.

Smiling River Campground has 36 campsites and is open from the spring to the early fall depending on seasonal snow.  There is potable water, vault toilets, picnic tables and fire rings.  Access to nearby recreational activities makes this an ideal base camp for those looking to get out and enjoy nature.

When comparing Smiling River Campground to other nearby campgrounds (there are many of them here) we would have to put this as a contender for the best.  The fact that so many of the sites are waterfront makes this a highly popular destination.
