Bull Bend Campground Description

Bull Bend Campground in the Deschutes National Forest near La Pine is possibly one of the best campgrounds in all of Central Oregon.  The campground is located about 30 minutes from Bend and sits on the shores of the Deschutes River.  The road in to Bull Bend Campground is all dirt and can be very rough at certain points which is a large deterrent for some people.  Even so, you can still manage to get a large RV into this campground.  The campground has 12 campsites, a boat launch, vault toilets, no drinking water and no on site host.  There is good cell service here with most carriers.

Nearby activities are primarily associated with things to do on the Deschutes river including boating, fishing and swimming.  There are hiking trails nearby and Bull Bend Campground offers good access to the many lakes of the Cascade Lakes Highway.

The actual campground is well situated with almost the entire area being surround by water.  The land is like a little peninsula that the river bends around which makes this a very unique place to camp.  The sites are spread out well and are very large though there is no water here so make sure to bring either a filter or plenty of drinking water.  If you need to go to the store La Pine is not too far from here – maybe a 15 minute drive.

Overall this campground wins.  The fact that it is tucked away off a rough road makes it even better and the way it sits along the Deschutes River ruins every other riverside campground for good.  If you camp here enjoy it… but let’s keep this our little secret!
