Cape Lookout State Park and Campground, Oregon Coast

Cape Lookout State Park is a massive campground, with over 200 camp sites, yurts, and cabins. Located about ten miles from Tillamook, it is located on the beach. Reservations are a must! From Spring through Fall, this campground is booked on all weekends, and all summer long. Caution: sites described as sunny on the website have no trees and zero privacy; they look like camping in a parking lot. Sites with trees are generally excellent, although some sites feel crowded. Piped water convenient to all sites, hot showers (no charge), paved access and parking, some sites grassy, and flush toilets. Facilities were very clean. Beach access is immediate. The beach is about three miles long, and dogs may run off leash when not directly in front of the camp ground.

The Cape lookout trail begins in the Cape Lookout picnic area.  A ten mile roundtrip, the route follows old growth forest, cliff edges, and rain forest creeks to Cape Lookout.  From there, the trail is on the ridge to the cape itself.  Fabulous vistas.  Can be mud hole in wet weather.
