Armitage Park Campground Description
Armitage Park Campground is located in Coburg, Oregon just minutes north of Eugene and adjacent to Interstate 5. The park offers a day-use area, access to the McKenzie River, a dog park, volleyball courts, and RV/Trailer camping. It is a popular place during the warmer months and is the perfect put in or take out area when recreating on the river. The park is 60 acres and offers large grassy areas, plenty of picnic tables and even a river-front rocky beach area.
The campground has 32 full hookup sites, 2 group sites, and 4 tent-only sites that are closest to the river. The large full hookup sites include both back in as well as 5 pull through and are spaced out generously – something uncommon is most RV campgrounds. Hookups are easy to access and the sites are all fairly level. Each campsite has a fire ring and picnic table and there are nearby restrooms with flushing toilets and showers. Overnight camping starts around $32 a night for the full hookup sites.
Armitage Park is a great destination for campers looking to stay close to Eugene. It is about 15 minutes away from nearly everything in the metro area and is easy to reach due to its close proximity to I5. It is advised to make a reservation prior to arriving to ensure you have space at this popular campground.
Overall Armitage Park is a beautiful campground best suited for RVs and travel trailers. The large and spaced out sites make this a treat however the close proximity to Eugene means some unsavory characters frequent the park. Crime is a problem at this campground and it is advised to keep your belongings locked up when not in your site.
Pros
- Close to Eugene
- Large campground with spaced out sites
- Dog park, river access, and day-use area are a huge plus
- Close to stores, restaurants, and shopping
Cons
- Crime. This isn’t just a campground – it is a city park so expect non-campers to pass-through
- Busy campground and may be difficult to lock down a site in the busy months
- River is very swift and not great for swimming

Re CONS:
It’s not a city park, it’s a county park with a day use area open to everyone. You access the day use area with out driving through the campground.
