Langfield Falls

Langfield Falls is a 59 foot tall waterfall located in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest near Mt. Adams in southern Washington.  The waterfall is a horsetail falls that veils down into a shallow pool surrounded by fallen trees.  Access to Langfield Falls is relatively easy as there is a parking lot just a short walk from the falls.

Langfield Falls was named after KC Langfield – an Mt. Adams district ranger who served from 1933 to 1956.  KC realized the importance of scenic attractions like Langfield Falls and worked to preserve the this and other features in the Mt. Adams area.  Ranger Langfield was recognized for his service with an award from the Secretary of Agriculture in 1954.

If you are passing by Tire Junction or on your way to Takhlakh Lake Campground it is worth the quick detour and side hike to see.  The falls is not ideal for swimming as the pool is small and shallow but the shade of the trees make this a nice little adventure on a hot day.
