Ike Kinswa State Park Campground Description
Ike Kinswa State Park and Campground is located on Mayfield lake in Washington about 20 miles easy of Interstate 5 via Highway 12. The campground has just over 100 campsites and can accommodate tent campers and RVs alike. Have a ski boat? Lake Mayfield is great for water sports and the campground has a nearby boat ramp to make things easy for water access. Not a boater? That is fine…. the campgrounds are all located on a peninsula that makes it easy for campers to access the lake shore no matter where they are staying. A huge grassy beach area makes this a great family campground for everyone.
Ike Kinswa Campground has 41 full hookup sites, 31 water and electric sites and 31 basic car camping style sites. The campground features flushing toilets, potable water, showers, great cell service, camp hosts, walking trails, Yurts for rent and great water access. Overnight camping fees start around $25 a night and go up from there depending on what site you are in. The town of Mossyrock is just a quick 8 minute drive way and has restaurants, a general store. and other amenities.
Ike Kinswa State Park and Campground is a very popular destination for campers and you may find that the campground is full if you just show up during peak summer months. It is advised that you make a campground reservation prior to arriving to be sure you have a place to stay the night.
In general, we find this to be a great campground for everyone – RVs and tent campers alike. It may get a little loud when the campground is full but the sites are spaced out nicely and the tent campers have their own loop all to themselves. The presence of hookup for the RVs means you don’t have to endure the sound of generators running day and night.
Pros
- Great access to Lake Mayfield and swimming area
- Full amenities – RV hookups, showers, camp host, etc
- Most campsites are spread out well and have a good amount of privacy relative to other state parks
- Close to stores, restaurants and other services
Cons
- Busy state park with lots of visitors
- Difficult to get a spot without reservations during busy season
- Lake Mayfield can be very cold for swimming outside of the summer months
